In LifeScience, our poducts Glycasol stands out due to its striking dissolving properties, while being non-toxic, non-skin-irritant, showing almost no hazards and showing a high compatibility with human and environmental health. All of that while being of biogeneous origin.

Its versatile dissolving abilities and miscibility with a broad range of solvents (including water and oils) lead to an increased compatibility of multiple compounds and facilitate the tuning of properties (i.e. viscosity, drying time).

Glycasol is a colourless, odourless liquid with relatively high viscosity (11 mPa*s at 25 °C).

Cosmetics – Personal Care

  • Its versatile dissolving abilities and miscibility with a broad range of solvents (including water and oils) boost cleansing properties.
  • Glycasols neutral pH of 7.2 is very mild on skin and fabrics. It imparts gloss and shine to hair and skin with its refractive index of 1.43.
  • Glycasol performs well as solubilizer for polymers that may serve as delivery systems for active components, such as antioxidants and antimicrobials.

Human Pharma

  • Glycasol is used as dissolving agent or carrier in human pharma products for transdermal application. In topical compositions for acne treatment, it acts as water miscible solvent for solubilizing benzoyl peroxide and may also improve skin penetration of the benzoyl peroxide.
  • Glycasol facilitates skin penetration of some active compounds (preferably hormones, but also immunomodulators, immunosuppressants, antibiotics, cytostatics, diuretics, gastrointestinal agents, cardiovascular agents and neuropharmaceuticals or mixtures thereof) and is therefore advantageous in transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS).
  • Glycamal and Glycasol are both fully miscible with SAIB (sucrose acetate isobutyrate) and are therefore suitable solvents for application of biodegradable pharmaceutical systems for controlled release of medically active substances.
